APPSC Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026 Eligibility Criteria
Eligible candidates must fulfill the prescribed eligibility criteria related to educational qualifications and age limit as on the specified cutoff date to be considered for the Assistant Professor post.
Essential Qualifications:
- Master’s degree with 55% marks (or equivalent grade) in the concerned/relevant/allied subject from a recognized Indian University or an equivalent qualification from an accredited Foreign University
- 5% relaxation in marks (from 55% to 50%) at the Master’s and Bachelor’s degree level for SC/ST candidates
Additional Requirements (Any One):
- Qualified National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by UGC or CSIR
- Qualified UGC-accredited tests such as SLET/SET
- Awarded Ph.D. degree in accordance with UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil/Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016 and subsequent amendments
- Ph.D. degree obtained from a Foreign University/Institution ranked among the top 500 universities in QS, THE, or ARWU World University Rankings
Exemption from NET/SLET/SET:
- Candidates registered for Ph.D. programme prior to 11 July 2009, subject to fulfillment of prescribed conditions
- Candidates awarded Ph.D. degree in accordance with UGC Regulations, 2009
- NET/SLET/SET is not mandatory for disciplines in which such eligibility tests are not conducted
